• 3.0 out of 5 stars from Carolyn Brubaker -- More Erotica than Suspense : Not my favorite Rachel Grant. I really enjoy the suspenseful thrillers she is so good at but I tend to skip the sex scenes in her books because they are kind of over the top for me (all s & f with out much emotion). I've been waiting for Chase's story but this book bothered me a little as the hero is pretty much a stalker. I get that he's broken but still...it would be a lot worse but the heroine is sort of stalking him too so it kind of works. Also, Ms Grant has moved from suspense into straight erotica with this one and there isn't as much story as the others, so I was disappointed. That said, I read it because I truly was invested in Chase from her other books and really wanted to see him get his HEA. So I stuck with it and toward the end of the book a fairly decent plot does finally emerge. If you like her sex scenes you will LOVE this one. But if you read her in spite of the sex scenes- like I do- this one might not be for you. ( Reviewed in the United States on October 24, 2021 )
• 2.0 out of 5 stars from Kindle Customer -- Not a mystery/romance : This was not the typical Rachel Grant book. I've always enjoyed her books but I had to force myself through the first half and even then I skipped pages at a time. There was a small segment concerning kidnapping and sex trafficking but the majority of the first half was about virtual sex. I have read all of Ms. Grant's previous books but this should be labeled as erotica. You really didn't get any other story until late in the book. Just not my type of reading and felt like I'd been ripped off because I skipped so many pages. ( Reviewed in the United States on October 25, 2021 )

Suspenseful content, unique plot, twists and turns, distinctive characters, exceptional intrigue are consistent qualities of Rachel Grant. With this book and quite unexpectedly, she adds erotica. • 3.0 out of 5 stars from Karen Quillin -- Overall good....... : Overall I found this to be a good book. I, however, only gave it 3 stars instead of 5 as I want to read to escape for awhile. Yet, over the last few books Rachel Grant has included leftist ideology which removes the enjoyment I've found in the beginning books of this series. Dear Miss Grant if you happen to read this please take note that a lot of people just want a book that doesn't have ANY ideology in it. • 4.0 out of 5 stars from hopej -- Interesting : Not one of my favorites of Rachel Grant’s books, more erotica than mystery/suspense as her previous books. Hero of this book is Chase Johnston who has been featured in previous books in series. He has been a guinea pig for horrible torture and mind control. Wished I had reread some of them because I couldn’t remember some of the things that he was involved in. Eden O’Keefe/Desiree is a barista by day and a virtual sex worker by night. Grew tired of always reading how this was a legal transaction almost in every chapter . Chase knows her online but meets her accidentally in person and sparks really fly from there. • 4.0 out of 5 stars from kirribilligirl -- DNF : I’m disappointed. This story was a sophisticated fifty shades of Gray. In the past, Rachel Grant was an automatic buy. I accept Chase’s story would be complicated. I also acknowledge that a deep point of view rules the romance world at the moment. We must know every thought, every feeling, a moment of angst the two characters are travelling through. This book, for me, ended my love affair with Rachel. Little or no suspense. No action. Gosh, when I think back to her earlier stories in the evidence series, I loved every word, every chase, adventure and the growing chemistry and romance in situations not conducive to HEA but not with this story. Now a new character named Mothman, who’s gay, is hovering in the wings. Fab, I say I love Same-sex romance, but even now, I can see all the angst. Every little emotion the man and who is love will be. I give this book four stars because the market is demanding deep, immersive stories. Just not me. • 4.0 out of 5 stars from Susu -- Finally - Chase's story : This was an interesting book. It's mostly written in 3rd person (as is the rest of the Evidence series) but some chapters are in 1st person, which actually works well within the framework of the story. It's great to finally see Chase get his HEA, and I liked Eden but I didn't empathise much with her - she is too different from me. There are a LOT of sex scenes in the book - too many for my taste - but it all ties in with the sex worker / sex trafficking theme. Nevertheless, the writing is fabulous and the story is good, but whilst it is a stand-alone, I feel it would be better if readers have first read Incriminating Evidence and Silent Evidence.
