:- 5.0 out of 5 stars from Shana -- An Addictive Read : Once I started reading I was hooked! Lazare is a wolf shifter not looking to get mated since he is very happy with his life. He has a friend who helps him out when his hormones go crazy and he thinks that’s all he needs. Everything changes when he meets Remy. Remy is a vampire who has found himself in a bit of trouble. His last boyfriend turned out to be a jerk. As Remy and Lazare deal with being fated mates we get to learn a lot about the supernatural world they live in. I like the little glimpses of the back stories we got. I also absolutely loved the hints at the overall story that will be going on in this series. I can’t wait for the next book to come out! These two are so different, but the Mate bond brings them together and makes for a interesting outcome. Laz might be fighting it hard, but he can't refuse the sweetness that is Remy. I thought Lazare and Remy a great couple and the peripheral characters intriguing (I especially liked Toulouse). The start of the book was so fun with what I assume was the flavor of New Orleans in the speech patterns and attitudes. Unfortunately, Lazare seemed to lose those speech patterns as the book progressed and the story became darker. I truly expected a light hearted fun story so was a little disappointed. This novella introduced a new world and even in the short time-span, the author was able to explain not only the world but also the characters in it. I appreciate when all that can be accomplished without feeling the rush or missed explanations. I loved Lazare and Remy, the Wolf and vampire made for an interesting couple. - 5.0 out of 5 stars from Bee -- AMAZING : Oh my gosh, if I wasn't in love with this from the first couple sentences, I would've fallen hard and fast when Remy described his ex as a himbo! I snorted, and it was not pretty but I don't regret it at all because it was perfect. Do yourself a favor and read this perfect slice of literature. I'm sincerely hoping that this becomes just a prequel to an amazing series for the whole found family/pack that we were introduced to. ( Reviewed in the United States on October 22, 2021 )

This was a fun story and I hope we might get to see more of this found pack family of supernatural misfits. When Lazare and his team decide to rescue a kidnapped vampire, he didn’t expect to find his fated mate. Settling down was not his idea of a good time, but fate and the magic have other ideas! The storyline flowed fast, but still managed to be intriguing with some scorching hot scenes woven in.
